On December 3-4, 1996, AFCEA International, an association headquartered in
Fairfax, Virginia, that has served communications, electronics, intelligence,
and information systems professionals for over 50 years, joins forces with
the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Mine and Undersea Warfare) and
the Office of Naval Intelligence to present a classified (SECRET) conference
on Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) at the National Maritime Intelligence Center
in Suitland, Maryland.

"Battlespace Management for the ASW Team," is a conference designed by the
Navy for the Navy and for industry.

GOVERNMENT, MILITARY, INDUSTRY…

If you want to hear the Navy’s top leadership discuss where the Navy is
headed organizationally and operationally in ASW and what they view as the
challenges and business opportunities in ASW…this is the conference.

For two days, the Navy’s top leadership from intelligence, plans, and
operations will focus on key ASW-related issues, including:

- The worldwide submarine challenges facing the U.S.

- How the Navy is organizing itself for ASW

- The C4I impediments to effective fusion of all-source intelligence and
real-time multi-sensor and multi-platform tactical data

- New technologies/innovations in the acquisition pipeline

- How commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technology can solve C4I problems

- What industry can do to help

IN ADDITION, 30 COMPANIES WILL EXHIBIT THE LATEST IN ASW-RELATED TECHNOLOGY.

The conference will consist of five sessions. The first will address the ASW
threat and how it is changing. In session two, each warfare area will
present its approaches to ASW and thoughts on future planning requirements.
Systems developers will present examples of developing technologies and ASW
tactical decision aids. The third session will showcase newly developing or
planned sensors, combat systems, and communication technologies and will
concentrate on the integration of diverse information within the Navy C4I of
the future. Navy labs/Systems Developers will present new and cutting edge
technologies for use in ASW tactical employment. Session four will highlight
the requirements and tools to provide C4I data fusion to the Battlespace
Commander. The final session will focus on shortfalls in current ASW
philosophy, organization, and capabilities; new initiatives; and objectives
for the future.
