StatLib Index Welcome to StatLib, a system for distributing statistical software, datasets, and information by electronic mail, FTP, gopher, and WWW. StatLib started out as an e-mail service and some of the organisation still reflects that heritage. We hope that this document will give you sufficient guidance to navigate through the archives. Please only take what you need! If you need something else later you can always get it from StatLib when you need it. Many of the StatLib collections accept submissions. If a collection accepts submissions, you can obtain directions by looking at the file called submissions in the appropriate collection. If ALL else fails, send mail to Mike Meyer (mikem@stat.cmu.edu) with details of the problem. I'll try to help you, if I can. Special Note to Mosaic Users Many of the StatLib documents contain the TAB character. The TAB is especially important in Makefiles. When you save documents from Mosaic, choose the HTML format for the saved file. The TABs will then be preserved in the document. If you choose the "Plain Text" format for the saved document, the TABS will be converted to spaces. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Credit where credit is due If you use an algorithm, dataset, or other information from StatLib, please acknowledge both StatLib and the original contributor of the material. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Other Sites! --> Technical reports, graduate catalogues, and information servers at other statistics departments and organisations around the world. You might want to send mail to netlib.att.com and ask for their index. Another WWW view of Netlib is available at www.netlib.org The Statistical Computing and Graphics Newsletter is available in postscript form, or in native WWW form . In postscript form, beware, some of the issues are very big, so be careful. The Journal of Statistics Education provides a gopher server that has interesting data and other material related to statistical education. The gopher server is available on port 70 at host jse.stat.ncsu.edu. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Occasional snapshots of this archive are included in Prime Time Freeware for UNIX, a semi-annual, mixed-media (book/CD-ROM) publication of UNIX-related freeware. Each issue contains two ISO-9660 CD-ROMs and an explanatory book. GNU Zip is used to compress the archives, allowing the two discs to contain over 5 GB of freeware.
