-- $Id: RESOURCES,v 3.2 1996/01/08 09:49:38 joke Rel $ * RESOURCES NEEDED? Besides 30MB (>100MB uncompressed) disk space you'll need Larry Wall's perl(1) language (version 5.003!) being installed on your system; the mirror software version 2.8 is actually a collection of perl scripts. * MAN POWER? EClairs run automatically; there's the mirror software, and an entry in the .crontab file of the local maintainer. Hence the mirror is activated as specified by the crontab interval, and after execution of the script e-mail is sent to the local maintainer containing the logfile of the session for notification; only when something went wrong, you'll need to check the archive; that's all. * HOW TO SET-UP? I'll provide you with a complete systems set-up; i.e. mirror & config files as soon as I know the name of your FTP server (and it's IP address) and the directory the "EC/" folder gets into. Then I create a new banner for this EClair (cf ENCORE:/eclairs), and update the set-up files according to your needs. At some EClairs, I have a shell account (user: joke/group: encore) and do the the set-up; but this is usually at places where I also do other work (SFI, SWU); at other places, I usually suggest to create a user: encore/group: encore with ~encore/.crontab holding the mirror information. Then a local guru (you?) can watch over this user's activities; and read the e-mail logfiles as time permits. -==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==- Please refer to the toplevel README file ../EC/README for further explanations. A handbook to this service is in ../EC/handbook. -==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-
