CHANGE SUMMARY: Rev.01 - Patches are available for Solaris and Linux agents of OVO-UX 7.X and 6.X. Rev.02 - Preliminary fix available for OVPM, OVOW, ITO5. ----------------------------------------------------------------- A. Background The worm referred to as "Blaster" or "W32.Blaster.worm", may impact hp OpenView products running on Microsoft Windows, HP-UX, Solaris and Linux. More information about the worm can be found at: It is important that you follow the instructions from Microsoft and apply appropriate patches to all servers running Microsoft Windows. As the worm attempts to find new systems to infect it can cause DCE to fail. The HP-UX, Solaris, and Linux systems running DCE are not infected by the worm. DCE is impacted as as side effect of the network traffic generated by the worm. The impact is that critical DCE daemons can abort. These daemons and the OpenView software which depends on them would need to be restarted manually. This problem has been reported by CERT/cc: CERT/cc reports that the vulnerability can be triggered by attempts to exploit Microsoft RPC vulnerabilities: AFFECTED VERSIONS The following is a list by HP-UX revision of affected filesets or patches and fix information. To determine if a system has an affected version, search the output of "swlist -a revision -l fileset" for an affected fileset or patch, then determine if a fixed revision or applicable patch is installed. Updated daily, this matrix categorizes security patches by platform/OS release, and by bulletin topic. Security Patch Check completely automates the process of reviewing the patch matrix for 11.XX systems. Please note that installing the patches listed in the Security Patch Matrix will completely implement a security bulletin _only_ if the MANUAL ACTIONS field specifies "No." The Security Patch Check tool can verify that a security bulletin has been implemented on HP-UX 11.XX systems providing that the fix is completely implemented in a patch with no manual actions required. The Security Patch Check tool cannot verify fixes implemented via a product upgrade.
